December 12, 2011 - Advanced Cooling Announcement: Webinar on Medical Device Thermal Management

Posted on December 12, 2011

Lancaster, PA – December 12, 2011.  Advanced Cooling Technologies, Inc. (ACT) (www.1-ACT.com) announced today that they will be offering a Webinar entitled “Advanced Thermal Management Technologies for Medical Devices” on January 17, 2012.  The webinar will provide medical device and other product designers with valuable information for addressing heat dissipation issues through use of emerging passive thermal transport technologies.  According to Pete Ritt, Vice President, Technical Services, “Medical devices, like many other electronic products, are becoming both smaller and more powerful.  This trend places increasing importance on a reliable and effective thermal management solution.  In addition to good thermal performance, medical devices also demand quiet operation at operating temperatures that are safe to touch.  Because passive heat transfer technologies such as heat pipes, vapor chambers and phase change materials offer all of these benefits, they are becoming part of the preferred thermal solutions, both within the medical device industry and beyond.”

ACT is a global leader in developing thermal technologies and has a wealth of knowledge and experience implementing passive heat transfer solutions for real world applications.  The webinar will explore these technologies, explaining the principles of operation as well as when and how to incorporate them into a product design.  Although targeted for medical device designers, the information presented in the webinar is applicable to other products that require thermal management.  Please join us for what promises to be an informative session on passive thermal transport technologies.

About ACT:

ACT specializes in advanced thermal technology development and custom thermal product manufacturing. ACT designs and manufactures heat pipes, pumped liquid and two-phase loops and thermal storage devices for customers in diverse markets including medical, aerospace, electronics, temperature calibration, and government R&D.
ACT’s team consists of personnel with established track records in technology development, commercialization and production. Many of them were involved in pioneering work on heat pipes, loop heat pipes and other two-phase heat transfer devices. They are the inventors/co-inventors on more than sixty U.S. and international patents and the authors/co-authors of more than three hundred fifty scientific publications.

ACT’s Facility measures more than 30,000 square feet, including office, laboratory and manufacturing spaces. It is capable of performing complex design, analysis, manufacture and testing work including CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics), FEA (Finite Element Analysis), 3-D solid modeling, vacuum processing, high temperature materials processing, and high heat flux testing. This facility has produced thermal hardware with the following operating ranges:

•             Temperatures: from -150 to 1,100°C.

•             Pressures: from 10-9 torr to 10,000psi.

•             Heat fluxes: to 1,500W/cm2.

•             Heat load: from less than 5mW to 540kW.

ACT is certified to ISO 9001:2008 standards for terrestrial applications and AS9100-B standards for aerospace applications.
