ACT's Technology Diversification Effort Continues Company Success
Posted on December 14, 2009
Advanced Cooling Technologies, Inc. announced today that it has received contracts or award notifications from various U.S. government agencies for a large number of R&D projects.
All of these R&D contracts or award notifications were received in the past six months. The funding agencies included the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), the Army, the Department of Energy (DOE), the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), and the National Science Foundation (NSF). These projects will develop the following technologies:
- Thermal interface technology
- Microscale Active Cooling technology
- Nanofluid heat transfer characterization
- High speed liquid cold spray technology
- Computational modeling of composite materials for thermal protection of reentry vehicles
- Advanced cooling designs for film capacitors
- Low thermal resistance heat pipe condenser technology
- Passive control mechanisms for loop heat pipes
- Variable conductance heat pipe based thermal control systems for Venus Landers
"We've made a strategic effort to diversify our technology and R&D capabilities,ยจ says Dr. William Anderson, a Lead Engineer at ACT, "We're very happy to see this effort starting to pay off."
Mr. Richard Bonner, another Lead Engineer at ACT, adds that "The partnerships which ACT has built with leading universities and corporations will tremendously benefit these and future programs." ACT is working with Carnegie Mellon University, Lehigh University, Pennsylvania State University, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and University of California - Los Angeles on the above mentioned programs.
ACT is a developer and manufacturer of advanced heat pipes, pumped liquid and two-phase loops, and thermal storage devices. ACT specializes in technology development and custom thermal product design and manufacturing. ACT's technologies have been used in applications from spacecraft thermal control to catalytic reactor cooling to medical surgery temperature control. ACT's quality system is certified to ISO9001:2008 and AS9100-B. ACT currently serves customers worldwide in Aerospace, Military, Commercial, and Government R&D markets. Many of these customers are on the Fortune Global 500 list.
