Posted on June 4, 2007

Lancaster, Pennsylvania - June 4, 2007 - Advanced Cooling Technologies, Inc. (ACT) has been awarded multiple contracts by the Naval Air Warfare Command (NAVAIR), the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) and the Department of Energy (DOE) to manufacture heat pipe assemblies and develop advanced thermal management technologies for military and energy conversion systems.

The NAVAIR contract is a multi-year effort to design, prototype and manufacture heat pipe assemblies for cooling of a shipboard radar system. Each heat pipe assembly will include multiple copper/water heat pipes and associated high precision components. This contract will be fulfilled by ACT's Engineering Services & Products Group. Mr. John Hartenstine, Manager of this Group, is the project manager on this effort.

The AFRL contract is a SBIR (Small Business Innovative Research) Phase I project that will develop a fast response fabric test facility to simulate the aircraft jet engine exhaust conditions. The project will also develop a fully validated dynamic fabric submodel to the AFRL's BURNSIM model. This contract is being carried out by ACT's Technology Development Group. Dr. Chanwoo Park, the Technology Development Group Leader, is the Principal Investigator on this project.

The DOE contract is a SBIR Phase I project that will develop a heat pipe based thermal control subsystem for the concentrating photovoltaic system. This contract will be fulfilled by ACT's Custom Products Group, with the Boeing Company to provide support in system integration and technology commercialization. Mr. Peter Dussinger, Manager of the Custom Products Group, will be the Principal Investigator on this project.

ACT is a developer and manufacturer of advanced heat pipes, pumped liquid and two-phase loops, and thermal storage devices. ACT specializes in technology development and custom thermal product design and manufacturing. ACT's technologies have been used in applications from spacecraft thermal control to catalytic reactor cooling to medical surgery temperature control.
