Posted on May 1, 2007
Lancaster, Pennsylvania - May 1, 2007 - Advanced Cooling Technologies, Inc. (ACT) has been awarded two contracts by the Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) to provide a suite of heat pipes and assemblies for the TacSat-4 thermal control system.
TacSat-4 is the fourth satellite in a series of tactical satellites to be launched by the Department of Defense (DOD) to develop the capabilities that will create a new tier of networked assets. The scheduled launch date for TacSat-4 is in 2008. NRL is the TacSat-4 Program Management Organization.
These contracts are being fulfilled by ACT's Aerospace Products Group under the AS9100-B certified quality system. ACT will deliver the electronics deck with embedded constant conductance heat pipes (CCHPs), the radiator spreader CCHPs and the loop heat pipe (LHP) linking the electronics deck and the radiators. Alliant Techsystems, Inc. (ATK), of Corona, California, is a subcontractor who will integrate ACT's heat pipes into a honeycomb panel.
