ACT -TEC Thermoelectric Cooler Series Solid State Enclosure Air Conditioning

ACT-TEC Thermoelectric Enclosure Coolers
Lancaster, PA January 8, 2018 – Advanced Cooling Technologies, Inc. (ACT) announced today the launch of its thermoelectric air conditioners for industrial and commercial sealed enclosure cooling applications. This is ACT’s fourth addition to their growing line of industrial and commercial enclosure cooling products.
The ACT-TEC Thermoelectric Enclosure Coolers are compact solid state air conditioners designed to cool the internal enclosure space with highly reliable Peltier cooling. The Peltier cooling cycle involves no moving parts, compressors, CFC refrigerants or circulating liquid, and is therefore inherently reliable, durable and low noise. The use of high reliability fans in combination with solid state Peltier devices in ACT-TEC products assures long life 24 hours per day seven days a week operation. The ACT-TEC product series are available in two power ranges of 90 Watts and 300 Watts of cooling.
ACT-TEC products can be used in wash-down, spray-down enclosure applications, or mounted directly to outdoor cabinets for flawless year-round operations. Standard stocked units are available in under a week. Dual mode operation of cooling and heating and corrosion resistant NEMA 4X, 316 stainless steel versions are also available.
Sealed enclosure coolers are used to dissipate heat inside enclosures that house and protect electrical/electronic equipment from harmful environmental elements like salt spray, dust, and airborne chemicals. These enclosures or cabinets are typically rated to a National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) standard. For example, a NEMA 12 cabinet is for indoor use and protects against drips, dust and falling dirt, while a NEMA 4 cabinet is for outdoor use and must be water tight. Sealed enclosure coolers are required to efficiently transfer heat from the inside space to the outside environment while maintaining the NEMA rated seal.
“Sealed Thermoelectric enclosure coolers are a logical technology extension of the many products that ACT currently manufactures for satellite, defense, medical and HVAC markets”, said Mr. Mark Stevens, Sr. Business Development Manager at ACT, “and they add an active (sub ambient) cooling dimension to ACT’s existing, more passive cooling products such as ACT-Heat Sink and ACT-Heat Pipe Coolers”.

ACT Enclosure Coolers Successfully Certified to UL50E for NEMA 4, 3, 3R, and 12 Installations
Lancaster, Pennsylvania – July 12, 2016. Advanced Cooling Technologies, Inc. (ACT) announces the successful certification of the HPC and HSC sealed enclosure cooling product lines to the NEMA (UL50E) standard. This standard tests enclosures with electrical equipment and their environmental considerations. The testing took place at the Underwriter Laboratories (UL) test facility in Melville, New York.
During the test, a sample electrical equipment enclosure with an ACT enclosure cooler installed was subjected to a stream of water from a hose having a 1.0 inch inside diameter nozzle delivering 65 gallons per minute flow rate. The stream was directed at all joints of the enclosure cooler from a distance of 10.0 feet and was moved along each seam at a nominal rate of ¼ of an inch per second. At the conclusion of the test the internal surfaces of the cabinet were examined for any water entry. Both ACT products passed the testing by allowing no water to enter the enclosure during the test.
A successful passing of the UL50E test certifies that the HSC and HPC product lines will maintain the existing integrity when installed on a NEMA 4, 3, 3R, and 12 type cabinets.
Sealed enclosure coolers are used to dissipate heat from inside enclosures that house and protect electrical/electronic equipment from harmful external, typically wet, environments. These cabinets are typically sealed to a National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) standard. For example, a NEMA 12 cabinet is for indoor use and protects against drops, dust and falling dirt, while a NEMA 4 cabinet is for outdoor use and must be water tight. Sealed enclosure coolers are required to efficiently transfer heat from the inside space to the outside environment while maintaining a tight water tight seal. ACT-HPC Heat Pipe Cooler Series
ACT’s LNC series of coolers are based on a patent pending design that utilizes a HSC-style air impingement heat sink to collect heat from the hot inside air and a larger extruded heat sink to dissipate the heat to the outside ambient via natural convection. Heat pipes are used to spread the heat from the
smaller internal heat sink to the larger external heat sink. By reducing or eliminating the fans on the external side, the LNC series offer the lowest (or zero) noise performance.
“Sealed enclosure coolers are logical extensions of many products that we currently manufacture for satellite, defense, medical and HVAC applications,” said Mr. Peter Dussinger, Vice President of Strategic Products at ACT. “We’re very excited about bringing innovation to the sealed enclosure cooling market, starting with today’s launch of these three products,” continued Mr. Dussinger, “Stay tuned for our next product launches in the near future.”
