ACT Establishes Radiography Inspection Facility

Lancaster, Pennsylvania – September 11, 2013 Advanced Cooling Technologies, Inc. (ACT)  (www.1-ACT.com) announced today that its Aerospace Products Group has established an in-house radiography inspection facility including all the required equipment and infrastructure. This facility will be primarily used to support ACT’s production of spacecraft thermal control heat pipe products. ACT personnel have successfully completed certification to Level I Radiographic Non Destructive Testing per NAS 410.

“This continuous improvement effort increases manufacturing efficiencies for mission critical aluminum/ammonia Constant Conductance Heat Pipes and Loop Heat Pipes for satellite thermal control, which will lead to improved cost competitiveness and reduction in lead time and risk,” says Mike DeChristopher, a Production Lead Engineer at ACT.

ACT’s Aerospace Products Group consists of personnel having diverse engineering and technical skills, making the group capable of solving some of the most demanding thermal management problems in spacecraft and aircraft. The group’s customer-focused approach is driving rapid growth and allowing ACT to quickly become a trusted supplier of flight-quality products, advanced research and development, and thermal management consulting services for the aerospace industry. To date, the group has manufactured and supplied heat pipe products to a dozen satellites currently on orbit.  The group’s satellite thermal control products include:

  • CCHP, VCHP, LHP
    • Build-to-print, or custom designs
    • Embedded and External Mount
    • In-House and Custom Extrusions
