Lancaster, Pennsylvania – December 9, 2013 – Advanced Cooling Technologies (ACT), Inc. announced today that it has been awarded the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) Best Paper Award in Aerospace Power Systems at the International Energy Conversion Engineering Conference (IECEC) for the paper entitled Long-Lived Venus Lander Thermal Management System Design. The authors from ACT were Rebecca Hay, Andrew Slippey, Calin Tarau and William Anderson. Lead author, Rebecca Hay, presented the paper at the IECEC Conference in July, 2012 and received the award at the awards lunch. The paper was based on research from a project funded through the Small Business Innovation Research office with the NASA/Glenn Research Center to develop a Thermal Management System using Variable Conductance Heat Pipes for a science mission to Venus.
“I am excited that the paper was so well received,” stated Rebecca Hay, a Research and Development Engineer in the Aerospace Products Group. “It was an honor to attend the lunch to accept the award and be recognized for the hard work that went into the paper and the project.”
