April 4th 2018 – Advanced Cooling Technologies, Inc. (ACT) announced today that it has received a production contract for heat sinks supporting L3 Technologies Data Link products. L3’s data link technology will be integrated into the U.S. Army’s Apache Manned/Unmanned Teaming – eXpanded Capabilities (MUMT-X) helicopter program. The heat sinks will keep critical components operational during periods of harsh environments including altitude, temperature, and dust/fog. The ultimate system provided by L3 will enable communications and data teaming between manned and unmanned aircraft, allowing missions to be executed without risking our war fighters. ACT has been working with L3 to develop a unique embedded heat pipe design (HiK™ plate) conducive to high thermal performance, structural strength and cost-effective manufacturing. The total contract nears $1 Million and is scheduled to begin immediately and run through 2019.
ACT’s Defense and Aerospace Group Manager, Jens Weyant commented, “We’re proud to be a part of L3’s program and excited about the opportunity to provide our service men and women with useful technology. This application follows most industry trends of more power in a smaller package. Our HiK™ plate technology is able to spread this increased heat flux to manageable level and keep critical devices at a safe temperature, translating to higher reliability”.
