Advanced Cooling Technologies, Inc. Surpasses $250 Million in Sales from SBIR/STTR-Developed Technologies
Lancaster, PA – June 25, 2025 – Advanced Cooling Technologies, Inc. (ACT), a leader in thermal management solutions, is proud to announce that commercial product sales stemming from government-funded SBIR (Small Business Innovation Research) and STTR (Small Business Technology Transfer) programs have surpassed a quarter of a billion dollars.
Since its founding in 2003, ACT has remained dedicated to research, innovation, and the development of cutting-edge thermal systems and technologies. Many of ACT’s breakthrough products were born from SBIR/STTR-funded research—programs designed to foster high-tech innovation in small businesses and promote commercialization of technologies critical to national and global priorities such as renewable energy, space exploration, and national defense.
“This milestone demonstrates the power of strategic R&D and the incredible impact SBIR/STTR programs can have on innovation and the economy,” said Bill Anderson, Chief Engineer at ACT. “The technologies we’ve developed through these programs have not only fueled our growth but also supported our customers across diverse markets.”
ACT’s journey from research to commercial success began with its first Phase II SBIR award in 2004. It took 17 years to reach $100 million in sales from SBIR/STTR-derived products (April 2021), but only 3.5 more years to reach $200 million (October 2024). Remarkably, the most recent $50 million in sales were achieved in just the last six months—underscoring the accelerating demand and growing impact of ACT’s innovations.
Key technologies contributing to this growth include:
- Spacecraft Thermal Control
- Aviation Thermal Management
- Thermal Energy Storage
- Copper-Water Heat Pipes for Space Applications
- Pumped Two-Phase Cooling Systems
This achievement highlights the collaboration across ACT’s R&D, Product Development, Production, and Sales teams. “Our success is driven by a culture of teamwork, innovation, and customer care,” said Jens Weyant, VP of Product and Technology Development. “As we continue to scale, we remain committed to pushing the boundaries of what’s possible and delivering transformative solutions for our customers.”
ACT remains at the forefront of thermal management technology, helping to solve complex engineering challenges while supporting missions that matter.
