Advanced Cooling Technologies (ACT) Honored by Lancaster County STEM Alliance for Exemplary Business Education Partnership
Lancaster, PA – June 13, 2024 – Advanced Cooling Technologies, Inc. (ACT) is proud to announce that it has been recognized by the Lancaster County STEM Alliance for its outstanding Business Education Partnership. The award, presented in May, celebrates ACT’s significant contributions to STEM education through its innovative Externship program and ongoing outreach initiatives as ACTeach.
Representing ACT at the event, Ellie Seber accepted the award and highlighted the company’s dedication to bridging the gap between classroom learning and real-world applications. The recognition underscores ACT’s commitment to enhancing STEM education and workforce development in the local community.
Lauren Beal, who shared her insights both on LinkedIn and during the award ceremony, eloquently captured the essence of ACT’s initiatives:
“Have you ever sat in class wondering, ‘When will I ever use this information?’ Last summer, Advanced Cooling Technologies (ACT) hosted local educators for a two-day immersive experience to answer that very question.
ACT, a highly innovative STEM workplace in Lancaster County working closely with NASA and the Department of Defense, opened its doors to show educators the real-world applications of classroom knowledge. The goal? To empower teachers to create relevant and engaging lessons that connect curriculum with industry skills.
This initiative required dedicated planning, with ACT staff meeting weekly for over six months to design informative and interactive activities. But the support didn’t stop there. After the summer program, ACT continued to volunteer at local schools, offering hands-on STEM challenges and mentorship.
Thank you, ACT, for your unwavering commitment to STEM education and workforce development. Your efforts are truly shaping the future of our students!”
ACT’s Externship program provided local educators with a unique, immersive experience that showcased the practical applications of STEM concepts taught in the classroom. Over a two-day period, educators were engaged in various activities designed to bring textbook knowledge to life, demonstrating the real-world relevance of their teaching material.
The ACTeach initiative further extends ACT’s impact by actively engaging with local schools throughout the year. Through hands-on STEM challenges and mentorship programs, ACT employees volunteer their time and expertise to inspire and educate the next generation of STEM professionals.
“We are honored to receive this award from the Lancaster County STEM Alliance,” said Megan Gettle, President of ACT’s committee, ACTeach and R&D technician at ACT. “Our team is passionate about supporting STEM education and empowering both educators and students. We believe that by connecting classroom learning with industry applications, we can foster a more engaged and prepared workforce for the future.”
ACteach is one of many employee-run committees at ACT where employees are empowered to be engaged in activities outside of their routine work duties.
ACT remains committed to its mission of promoting STEM education and will continue to collaborate with local schools and educators to create meaningful and impactful learning experiences.
