Advanced Cooling Technologies Launches Industry’s First 1 MW Two-Phase Coolant Distribution Unit
LANCASTER, PA – November 7, 2025 – Advanced Cooling Technologies, Inc. (ACT) today announced the launch of the industry’s first 1 megawatt (MW) two-phase direct-to-chip coolant distribution unit (CDU), a groundbreaking solution that redefines high-density data center cooling for the AI era.
Purpose-built for the next generation of high-performance computing, ACT’s new CDU enables rack power densities exceeding 1 MW and manages chip heat fluxes over 300 W/cm², delivering unmatched cooling efficiency and reliability in demanding AI and HPC environments.
Revolutionizing Cooling for AI Data Centers
ACT’s 1 MW two-phase CDU leverages vaporization-driven heat transfer to manage ultra-high heat loads with minimal mass flow, providing higher capacity and lower thermal resistance than traditional single-phase systems—while reducing operating expenses (OpEx) and total cost of ownership (TCO).
“This launch marks a major milestone in the evolution of data center cooling,” said Devin Pellicone, Head of Data Center Solutions at Advanced Cooling Technologies. “As AI chips grow more powerful, thermal management becomes a mission-critical challenge. Our 1 MW two-phase CDU delivers the scalability, safety, and intelligence needed to keep pace with the future of computing.”
Engineered for Integration and Reliability
The system is designed in alignment with NVIDIA’s application notes for liquid-to-liquid (L2L) CDUs, ensuring seamless integration with emerging AI server architectures. It is also compatible with most low-GWP dielectric refrigerants, supporting environmentally responsible operation without compromising performance.
Built for safe and reliable operation, the CDU features passive flow control, N+1 pump redundancy, and real-time health monitoring. Intelligent system controls enable predictive maintenance and adaptive load balancing for maximum uptime and efficiency.
“Achieving rack densities of 1MW will require more than incremental improvements—it’ll take a step change. This CDU enables the future of computing, and it’s available today,” added Pellicone.
