Background
ACT’s customer, Elhand, ordered ACT’s Sealed Enclosure Cooling product online after specking out the product online and utilizing ACT’s online tool. ACT’s customer was tasked to supply 14 units of the Sine-Wave Filter EF3LC, designed to operate with Variable Speed Drives (VSDs) for controlling Electrical Submersible Pumping (ESP) systems and surface pumps.
The Challenge
The primary challenge in this project was twofold. First, the customer had specific size constraints, requiring the units to fit within a limited space. Adapting to these dimensions while maintaining the functionality and efficiency of the filters was crucial. Second, the project demanded efficient external heat dissipation, a critical factor in ensuring the longevity and performance of the filters. Additionally, the design required a high degree of housing integrity to protect against harsh environmental conditions.
Solution
The use of ACT’s NEMA 4X stainless steel enclosure coolers with Heat Exchangers provided the necessary thermal protection, while also accommodating space and heat management needs. ELHAND Transformatory’s innovative design adjustments allowed for effective external heat dissipation, ensuring the units remained within operational temperature limits.
Results
14 units of the Sine-Wave Filter EF3LC in NEMA 4X stainless steel enclosures with ACT’s NEMA 4 Heat Exchangers were designed to work with Variable Speed Drives (VSDs) for controlling Electrical Submersible Pumping (ESP) systems and surface pumps. The product met the customer’s expectations in terms of sealed cooling, size and function, enabling adjustments to production parameters and ESP output in response to changing downhole conditions.
